stress??

stress stimulates hypothalamus to secrete corticotrophin-releasing hormone (CRH). this hormone travels to anterior pituitary gland through hypothalamic-hypophyseal portal system and stimulates the secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). this hormone is secreted to blood stream and binds at adrenal gland receptor and then cortisol is released. cortisol will increase blood glucose by stimulating gluconeogenesis, increase blood amino acid by stimulating protien degradation and also increase blood fatty acid by stimulating lipolysis. the presence of cortisol will inhibit hypothalamus from secreting CRH and inhibit anterior pituitary gland from releasing ACTH. this negative feedback system for cortisol maintains the level of cortisol in the blood. concentration of cortisol depends on the level of stress. a greater increase in cortisol levels is evoked in response to severe stress than to mild stress. however, the present of cortisol might lead to anti-inflammatory and immunosuppresive effects. therefore, who's having stress might have low level of defence system and lost weight.
